Singleplayer game with AI shooters
Ravenfield is a premium action game from SteelRavel7. This shooter title lets you join a war in varying capacities. Play as infantry or by operating tanks, fighter planes, or battleships as a part of the blue faction. This single-player mayhem lets you create custom scenarios, with as many AI-driven participants as your system can handle.
Ravenfield leverages minimalistic low-poly graphics in exchange for smooth animation and chaotic ragdoll and particle physics. With a proposed roadmap for the release of more content, the experience is only held back by its in-game bugs. It’s like Totally Accurate Battle Simulator meets Ragdoll Fighter.
Join the chaos of war
As the unofficial mobile port of the indie game, Ravenfield captures the game perfectly. It translates the premise and the design. You join the blue faction and you get to choose your role. You can fight on foot as an infantry soldier or pilot any military vehicle for land, sea, and air battles. There are also a lot of guns and weapons to choose from.
Visually, it uses plain colors of primarily blue and red for the opposing sides plus a few grays and greens for the environment. This lack of detail, combined with low-poly 3D models everywhere, makes game elements easier to distinguish although it screams low production value. The same goes with the particles, such as its cartoon-like depiction of blood as oversized red balls flying around.
Unfortunately, playing the game can feel clunky. Although the controls use the standard touchscreen layout, the app doesn’t respond well to control inputs. It’s easy to see that the animation runs smoothly, but the movement joystick can feel very stiff. Other than that, you can set up scenarios to have as many units as you want, although too much can cause lagging and overheating.
A fun casual war game
For players looking to casually enjoy a war sim, without winding campaigns and excessive difficulty, Ravenfield is an underrated title to check out. It uses low-poly 3D models, from soldiers and vehicles to the environment, with easily distinguishable color coding schemes. With the freedom to choose your role in the action, it’s great for action you can enjoy on your own terms.
